Weekly farm stand returns

Tuesday, July 7, 2020

farm stand

The weekly farm stand returns to Bridgeport Hospital July 9 will continue from 3:30 - 5:30 pm every Thursday through Oct. 8. The first 50 customers will receive $5 in Bridgeport Bucks, which can be used towards the purchase of produce, just like a coupon.

The farm stand is located in front of the former School of Nursing building on the corner of Mill Hill Avenue and Grant Street. It offers fresh produce for purchase from Smith’s Acres Farm in Niantic. Face masks and social distancing are required and the farmers will be following all CT Department of Agriculture COVID-19 guidelines to protect the safety of customers and the farm staff.

The hospital partners with the Bridgeport Farmers Market Collaborative to help make healthy food accessible to our community. Through this partnership, farm stand customers have the ability to double their SNAP (supplemental nutrition assistance program) dollars toward the purchase of fresh produce. In addition to SNAP/EBT payments, the farm will also accept cash, credit/debit cards, senior and WIC farmers' market nutrition program checks.

For more information about the farm stand, please contact Gina Smith at 203-200-3719 or [email protected].
