Old Saybrook, CT (Oct. 14, 2026) – Yale New Haven Health (YNHHS) today celebrated the completion of a major expansion and renovation of the Old Saybrook Medical Center (OSMC), enhancing access to high-quality specialty care and diagnostic services for patients throughout the shoreline region.
The project adds 10,000 square feet to the existing facility at 633 Middlesex Turnpike, bringing the medical center's total footprint to approximately 35,000 square feet. The expansion introduces new clinical services, expands several high-demand specialties and increases the center's capacity to serve a growing patient population.
Since opening in 2015, OSMC has served as a pioneering model for ambulatory care within YNHHS. As the health system's first truly multispecialty center serving both adult and pediatric patients, the facility was designed as a convenient "one-stop shop" where patients can access specialty care, imaging, laboratory services and other services in a single location.
"This expansion represents our continued commitment to bringing exceptional, convenient care closer to where our patients live and work," said Pamela Sutton-Wallace, acting chief executive officer for Yale New Haven Health. "By growing our services and adding new specialties, we are improving access, reducing wait times and ensuring patients throughout the shoreline community receive the care they need closer to home."
Among the most significant additions is a new MRI service, providing patients with local access to advanced diagnostic imaging. The addition of onsite MRI capabilities at OSMC will help improve access and expedite care for patients across the region.
The expansion also brings new specialty services to the center, including Interventional Psychiatric Services and Urogynecology. Existing services have been enhanced as well, with expanded offerings in the therapeutic infusion center, heart and vascular care, and ear, nose and throat (ENT) services.
The Yale New Haven Health Heart and Vascular Center program has undergone a substantial expansion, including the addition of 10 dedicated exam rooms. Cardiology is one of the most needed specialties in the shoreline area. The expanded space allows patients greater access to cardiovascular testing and general cardiology services.
As demand for care continues to grow, the renovation enables OSMC to accommodate more patients while enhancing the overall patient experience. The center's workforce has also expanded, growing from approximately 35 employees when the facility first opened to about 50 today.
"The growth of Old Saybrook Medical Center reflects the trust our patients place in us and our commitment to meeting the healthcare needs of this community," said ]orge Rodriguez, chief ambulatory officer for YNHHS. "We are proud to continue expanding access to specialized care and innovative services while maintaining the convenience and personalized experience our patients value."
