Chaplain residents and interns graduate from programs

Clinical Pastoral Education students recently completed residencies and internships at Bridgeport Hospital
Clinical Pastoral Education students recently completed residencies and internships at Bridgeport Hospital. Attending a graduation ceremony were (l-r): Richard Miller-Murphy, chaplain; the Rev. Dr. Moses Mercedes; Amanda Miller, program director, Strategic Initiatives and Operations; Father Cyprian Okongwu; the Rev. Antona Brent Smith; Minister Tre Smith; Father Adrian Budica, director of Spiritual Care and Education; and Rabbi Nathan Goldberg.

Congratulations to members of the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Class of 2025 with Bridgeport Hospital’s Spiritual Care and Education Department who recently completed their residencies and internships.

A graduation ceremony was held in May for the five chaplain residents, who range in age from 20s to 70s. The graduates completed a nine-month program that included a weekly schedule of pastoral ministry, group sessions and on-call hours. They were supervised by Father Adrian Budica and Rabbi Nathan Goldberg and are now eligible to become board-certified chaplains, the gold standard for spiritual care.

Four interns also completed a 35-week program under the supervision of the Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Kalu.
