Leea Palmer, RN, Milford Campus Emergency Department, and Andressa Goncalves, RN, stroke nurse coordinator, Stroke Program, recently received DAISY Awards, which recognize extraordinary nurses who demonstrate compassion, leadership and excellence in their work.
Palmer was honored for leaving a lasting impression on a patient’s family members. They said Palmer took exceptional care of their father after a fall, writing, “Leea made us feel like we were family. We are so grateful for her care and kindness.”
Goncalves was honored for guiding a stroke patient and her family through the process, which became extremely frightening when the patient lost the ability to speak. “I have never seen a more compassionate and caring nurse who absolutely put the patient and her family first and was a tremendous advocate,” the patient’s family wrote.
