Cinthia Sinanan, patient escort, won the Great Catch Award for May after escalating her concerns about a patient’s chest pain. The patient was undergoing a nuclear stress test, which required taking them to the Electrocardiogram (EKG) and Nuclear Medicine departments. During transport between the departments, the patient mentioned worsening chest pain. Sinanan escalated her concern to Nuclear Medicine, where staff called in the Rapid Response Team. The team assessed the patient, performed more tests and sent the patient to the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, where the clinical team discovered an artery blockage. Thanks to Sinanan’s actions, the patient received the appropriate care.
