A concerned family member called Mary Judson, RN, nursing professional development specialist, to a patient’s room. Judson noticed immediately that a norepinephrine drip was running, but the patient’s mean arterial pressure was above goal. To avoid possible risk of cardiac complications, Judson turned off the drip, reassessed the infusion set-up and verified that a central line catheter had been properly evaluated for use, which is a best practice.
