Staff with Bridgeport Hospital’s Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) and SICU Respiratory Therapy earned the Patient Experience Award for Caring and Excellence (PEACE) for going above and beyond to support a patient and her family. During the patient’s five-month stay in the SICU, staff worked to bring her some joy. They brought the patient outside to get some sunlight and arranged, following policy, for the patient to see her dog. The patient’s parents said that each nurse, tech and therapist touched their lives in a “unique and meaningful way,” and made an incredibly difficult time just a little more bearable.
