Steph Montemurro, tech specialist, Radiology, earned the Patient Experience Award for Caring and Excellence (PEACE) after noticing that a patient was listed for an esophogram despite the original for a modified barium swallow. Over the next two hours, Montemurro contacted the patient’s family, physician’s office, speech department and referring facility to confirm that the intended procedure was a modified barium swallow. She then coordinated with the speech department to accommodate the patient and kept the family informed throughout the process.
