Biography
Cullen K Griffith, MD is in orthopedic trauma specialist working in the Fairfield Connecticut for the Orthopedic Specialty Group, PC. Cullen attended medical school at the University of Maryland at Baltimore. He stayed in Baltimore for his orthopedic residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center. During residency he completed additional rotations in pediatric orthopaedics at Johns Hopkins Hospital and deformity/oncology at the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopaedics. He was selected to perform a fellowship in orthopedic trauma care at the world renowned RA Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, MD. Following his trauma fellowship, Cullen completed a 6 month sports medicine fellowship based at the University of Maryland in College Park. Upon completing his fellowships, he worked briefly at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center and the Prince George County Hospital Center in Washington, DC before relocating to Fairfield, Connecticut.
Cullen has clinical appointments at Yale New Haven Health’s Bridgeport and Milford Campus. His clinical interest include pelvic and acetabular trauma, periarticular fractures, malunion and nonunion care, periacetabular osteotomy, peri prosthetic fractures, pathologic fractures, arthroscopy, sports medicine and multi ligamentous knee injuries.
He has multiple peer reviewed research articles including The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma and American Journal of Sports Medicine. He has been selected to present on his research and clinical experience at multiple national meetings. In the past he has been awarded research grants by the Department of Defense, AO trauma foundation and the Orthopedic Trauma Association. Cullen is currently a candidate member of the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons.
He is a team physician to the United States Ski Team and travels with the men’s and women’s alpine team twice a year to cover World Cup races and training camps. When not working he enjoys spending time with his family skiing, sailing, surfing, mountaineering and taking in the outdoors.
