Biography - Todd A. Morrison, MD

Dr. Morrison graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, CT with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. Following his undergraduate studies, he was the research coordinator for The Center for Hip & Knee Replacement at Columbia University Medical Center at New York Presbyterian Hospital. He left New York to pursue his medical degree at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA then completed his Orthopaedic internship and residency at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. Prior to returning to Connecticut, he completed a fellowship in Adult Hip & Knee Reconstruction at The Florida Orthopaedic Institute in Tampa, FL, where he received sub-specialty training in innovative surgical techniques, including robotic-assisted joint replacement and direct anterior total hip replacement.

Dr. Morrison’s treats degenerative conditions about the hip and knee such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and avascular necrosis. He also treats pediatric and orthopaedic trauma issues and specializes in complex joint replacement and revision cases. Dr. Morrison’s diverse training background has strongly influenced his treatment philosophy. He believes that excellent outcomes are obtained only through partnering with patients to understand their goals and jointly developing a treatment plan. While surgery may sometimes be indicated, Dr. Morrison believes there is a strong role for maximizing conservative treatments prior to considering operative intervention.

Throughout his training, Dr. Morrison has maintained a passion for clinical research, authoring many peer-reviewed articles, presenting at national meetings and receiving multiple grants and awards. He has conducted outcomes research examining patients’ functional improvements following joint replacement, material science and biomechanical research examining the wear properties of joint replacements and clinical studies on robotic-assisted techniques for total knee replacement.

Outside of orthopaedics, Dr. Morrison enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons and their dogs. He is an avid runner, snowboarder and guitar player.
