A multidisciplinary valve team of cardiac surgeons and cardiologists collaborates to offer the best available options for valve disease treatment, whether open heart surgery or minimally invasive or transcatheter procedures.
Bridgeport Hospital offers an aortic valve repair and replacement program aimed at treating aortic valve stenosis or leakage. Valve replacement can be done surgically or through transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). Minimally invasive aortic valve replacement may also be a treatment option and would involve a single two- to three-inch long incision in the upper part of the chest. Valve repair can also be performed in conjunction with surgery for aneurysm of the ascending aorta or aortic root.
Our surgeons use newest generation of biological or mechanical valve and, when possible, valve replacement procedures are performed through a small incision with a minimally invasive approach.
