Bridgeport Hospital names Anne Diamond as new president

Monday, September 9, 2019

Anne Diamond, JD

Bridgeport, CT (September 9, 2019) – Bridgeport Hospital today announced that Anne Diamond, JD, has been named as its new president. Diamond, who has a long and impressive history running hospitals, was selected after an extensive national search.

“I am delighted to have Anne bring her exceptional skills to the talented Bridgeport Hospital family and our health system,” said Marna P. Borgstrom, CEO, Yale New Haven Health and Yale New Haven Hospital. “She has an intimate familiarity with the evolving healthcare environment in Connecticut and a strong track record of forging lasting and strategic relationships with physicians and the broader community.”

For the past two years, Diamond has served as the president of Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam, CT, where she has been instrumental in improving that organization’s operating performance and positioning the hospital to successfully integrate with a system partner. Her success was marked by a recent Day Kimball announcement of its intention to join Prospect Healthcare, which currently owns Waterbury, Manchester and Rockville General Hospitals in Connecticut.

“We are thrilled to have Anne join Bridgeport Hospital as its new leader,” said John Falconi, chair of the Bridgeport Hospital Board of Trustees. “Anne brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Bridgeport Hospital and we are looking forward to leveraging that expertise to further improve on all the great work in patient experience and safety that has come before her.”

Prior to joining Day Kimball Hospital in 2017, Diamond spent seven years at UConn Health’s John Dempsey Hospital, four of those years as its chief executive officer. While at John Dempsey, she increased volume, improved their operating performance and garnered many recognitions for the organization through improvements in patient care quality and patient experience. Diamond began her healthcare career as a nuclear medicine technologist and worked at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, for six years before she was recruited to the Electric Power Research Institute, based in Palo Alto, CA.

Diamond is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the American Health Lawyers Association, the American Society of Healthcare Engineers and the National Association of Latino Healthcare Executives. She sits on the Connecticut Hospital Association’s (CHA’s) Board of Trustees and served as past chair of CHA’s Statewide Asthma Initiative and is the current Chair of CHA’s Statewide Health Equity Advisory Council. She is a board member of the Leo and Anne Albert Institute of Bladder Cancer and past Chair of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Luncheon. Diamond is also an industry executive advisor for various organizations in healthcare security and patient experience.

Diamond holds an executive juris doctor degree with a concentration in Health Law from Concord School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology from Cedar Crest College. She retains her certification as a nuclear medicine technologist and is certified as a LEAN process master. She is also an accomplished presenter at healthcare forums and conferences across the country and a contributor to a number of healthcare journals and publications. She is married with a 19 year-old son and resides in West Hartford, CT.

Michael Ivy, MD has capably served as interim president and CEO of Bridgeport Hospital since the departure of former CEO Bill Jennings last fall. He will assume a new role as deputy chief medical officer of Yale New Haven Health when Diamond arrives.
