BRIDGEPORT, CT (Sept. 3, 2025) – Bridgeport Hospital has a new section chief of Cardiology – Samuel Hahn, MD. Dr. Hahn has been an integral part of Yale New Haven Health for many years.
He’s an associate clinical professor of Medicine at the Yale School of Medicine and has been the medical director for Safety and Performance Improvement for the Heart & Vascular Center at Yale New Haven Health since 2019. He received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School through the Harvard-MIT Health Science Technology program and completed his internal medicine, cardiology and interventional cardiology training at Massachusetts General Hospital in 2000. He has extensive experience in interventional and clinical cardiology with particular interest in heart failure, clinical research, medical education and administration.

Dr. Hahn replaces Stuart Zarich, MD, who will be devoting his time to more clinical work and teaching.
Bridgeport Hospital has been a leader in cardiovascular care throughout Fairfield County and New England as part of Yale New Haven Health’s Heart & Vascular Center. Among the many achievements, Bridgeport Hospital was the first institution in Connecticut to perform balloon angioplasty; and in Fairfield County to use coronary stents. For treatment of atrial fibrillation, Bridgeport Hospital was the first in New England to perform hybrid ablation, and in Connecticut to perform catheter-based (non-surgical) ablation and mini-maze minimally invasive surgery.
