Cos Cob Fire Police Patrol, Inc. (the Patrol) announces that they have partnered with the NHL and are the recipients of a donation to be made in the Patrol's name to the Connecticut Burn Center at Bridgeport Hospital. The National Hockey League donated $5,000 on behalf of the Cos Cob Fire Police Patrol, Inc. to the Connecticut Burn Center on Wednesday, July 30, 2014. The check was presented at Bridgeport Hospital in the Connecticut Burn Center.
In attendance for the presentation was National Hockey League players Cam Atkinson (Columbus Blue Jackets) and Nathan Gerbe (Carolina Hurricanes); along with State Representative Fred Camillo (District 151) who is an Associate member of the Patrol; Patrol Chief Brian Kelly, and Patrol Board members, President Peter Yeskey, Secretary Stephanie Dunn Ashley and Past President Joe Kaliko.
Representatives of the hospital’s burn unit and the Bridgeport Hospital Foundation were also on hand and included Bridgeport Hospital Foundation President Steve Jakab, burn center Medical Director Dr. Alisa Savetamal, burn center Nurse Manager Jackie Laird, hospital Chief Operating Officer Norm Roth, burn center surgeon Dr. Roselle Crombie, hospital Director of Trauma Services Paul Possenti.
This donation was made on behalf of the Patrol and the work they do to help raise funds for other organizations, while being a non-profit themselves. Both Atkinson and Gerbe supported recent fundraising efforts with the Patrol in their quest for a three-peat win at the Fairway Firefighter Cook-off on July 19. Atkinson, who has two brothers in the Patrol, recruited Gerbe to help man the grills at the cook-off. The Patrol came in second place, but still came out on top as they were granted this donation to help them with their outreach efforts for the Connecticut Burn Center. Along with Atkinson and Gerbe, the donation was made possible by sports legend, Bobby Valentine and Lou Lamoriello, President and General Manager of the New Jersey Devils.
Cos Cob Fire Police Patrol, Inc. is an all-volunteer, non for profit organization dedicated to protecting the residents of the Town of Greenwich since 1927. The Patrol provides a broad spectrum of services to residents and first responders including firefighting, salvage operations, traffic and scene control at emergencies. One of the few nationwide organizations remaining which specializes in the art of salvage work, the Patrol specially trains its members to protect valuable personal property, inside of a home or business, in an emergency that could otherwise be destroyed due to fire, water or smoke damage.
