Bridgeport Hospital marks EMS Week with new provider award

EMS provider of the year

Thursday, May 25, 2017

BRIDGEPORT, CT (May 25, 2017) – Bridgeport Hospital celebrated Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week May 24 by acknowledging its important partnership with area ambulance companies and presenting its first EMS Provider of the Year Award to Dane Johansson, a paramedic with American Medical Response and Stratford EMS.

“Dane maintains the highest standards of clinical excellence and professionalism,” said Bridgeport Hospital EMS Coordinator Wesley Young in presenting the award during a ceremony in the hospital’s ambulance bay. “He has provided fantastic care over the past year to too many critical patients to count, and always does it with a smile. He consistently receives feedback on his positive attitude and skill from staff members.”

With more than 90,000 annual visits, Bridgeport Hospital has one of the busiest emergency departments in the state. At the May 24 event, hospital leaders said they depend on cooperation with community-based ambulance companies to provide lifesaving emergency care to residents.

Bridgeport Hospital, part of Yale New Haven Health, is a non-profit 501-bed acute care hospital with two campuses (plus 42 beds licensed to Yale New Haven Children's Hospital). Its Bridgeport and Milford Campuses serve patients from across the region. The hospital admits more than 23,000 patients and provides nearly 350,000 outpatient treatments annually. The Connecticut Burn Center at Bridgeport Hospital is the only burn center in the state and one of only 64 verified burn centers in the United States. Bridgeport Hospital is committed to providing safe, compassionate and cost efficient care to its patients and the community. www.bridgeporthospital.org
