FAIRFIELD, CT (Aug. 22, 2017) – Norma Pfriem Breast Center kicks off its third annual Pink Pledge 5:30 pm Thursday, Sept. 28 at the Sherman Green Gazebo, Post Road, Fairfield. The Pink Pledge is a month-long, community-wide campaign to raise funds for the center’s life-saving programs for women in need while promoting breast cancer awareness and early detection. Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, a Bank of America company, is the lead corporate event sponsor.

This year’s Pink Pledge co-chairs are Fairfielders Marlene Battista and Kristen Staikos, both members of the breast center advisory board, and Meghan McCloat of Easton, member of the breast center president’s council.

“On behalf of our patients and their families, I cannot thank these dedicated, energetic co-chairs enough for the tireless work they’ve done since the end of last year’s event to invite individuals, schools, fitness centers, restaurants, businesses, town offices and many others to take part in the 2017 Pink Pledge,” said Dr. Donna Twist, Norma Pfriem Breast Center executive director and vice president of the Bridgeport Hospital Foundation. “Together with this army of community partners, we hope to sponsor activities throughout October to raise breast cancer awareness and support the charitable programs of Norma Pfriem Breast Center.”

The Pink Pledge begins with a Stroll for Strength, starting at the breast center offices at 111 Beach Road in Fairfield at 5 pm. Participants will follow a pink police cruiser to the Sherman Green. For information or to register for the Stroll, visit http://tinyurl.com/Stroll2017PP.

Speakers at the Sherman Green will include First Selectman Mike Tetreau. Music will be provided by an on-air personality from WEBE 108. The kickoff also features a live band, activities for kids, a dance performance and prize drawings. Lead Corporate Event Sponsor Merrill Lynch Wealth Management will “throw the switch” and light up Fairfield in pink. After the short program at the Sherman Green, guests are invited to continue the celebration at select downtown restaurants.

In addition to lead sponsor Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, supporters of Pink Pledge include Miller Nissan, Norma F. Pfriem Foundation, Inc. and Bigelow Tea.
