Bridgeport Hospital’s Milford Campus unveils new state-of-the-art post-surgical rooms

Wednesday, June 5, 2024

MILFORD, CT (June 5, 2024) – Bridgeport Hospital’s Milford Campus unveiled its new state-of-the-art post-surgical orthopedic care unit. The opening of 3 East marked a milestone in the commitment Yale New Haven Health and Bridgeport Hospital made to Milford Hospital when it acquired it nearly five years ago.

“We made a commitment to continue providing care to the community, to invest in its infrastructure, to offer new services and to expand access to specialty care in the region,” said Anne Diamond, president of Bridgeport Hospital.

The rooms are equipped with the latest technology and designed with patient and family comfort in mind. Each room features a tablet that allows patients to control lighting, temperature, the window blinds and their entertainment options. They can also easily communicate with their care team. Patients can be monitored remotely and will have the ability in the future to consult with providers virtually.

“Every aspect of this unit was meticulously thought out to truly enhance the patient experience,” said Diamond.

Employees already have ample training to serve patients in the rooms, and Yale New Haven Health will be hiring more orthopedic surgeons with different specialties to expand services in the community.

“This is a dream come true for all of us, especially for Milford,” said Tony Giannattasio, mayor of the City of Milford.

Bridgeport Hospital, part of Yale New Haven Health, is a non-profit 501-bed acute care hospital with two campuses (plus 42 beds licensed to Yale New Haven Children's Hospital). Its Bridgeport and Milford Campuses serve patients from across the region. The hospital admits more than 23,000 patients and provides nearly 350,000 outpatient treatments annually. The Connecticut Burn Center at Bridgeport Hospital is the only burn center in the state and one of only 64 verified burn centers in the United States. Bridgeport Hospital is committed to providing safe, compassionate and cost efficient care to its patients and the community. www.bridgeporthospital.org
