Two new members named to Bridgeport Hospital Board of Trustees

BRIDGEPORT, CT (Nov. 6, 2020) – Meredith Wallace Kazer of Woodbridge and Emil Meshberg of Fairfield have been appointed to the Bridgeport Hospital Board of Trustees.

Dr. Kazer is a professor and dean of the Marion Peckham Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies at Fairfield University. She is also an adult and gerontological primary care nurse practitioner whose focus is on chronic illness in older adults. She was previously an associate professor of nursing at the Yale University School of Nursing. Dr. Kazer earned a bachelor of science degree in Nursing from Boston University, a master of science in Nursing from Yale University and a PhD in Nursing Research and Theory Development from New York University. In addition, Dr. Kazer was managing editor and research brief editor of the Journal of Applied Nursing Research and is currently editor-in-chief of the Building Healthy Academic Communities journal. Her work has been included in a dozen books, 85 peer-reviewed journal publications, 27 book chapters and over 100 research and invited presentations. In 2015, she was named the 10th most influential dean of nursing in the United States.

Meshberg is retired after a career of starting and managing manufacturing businesses around the world. Building family businesses and as a senior executive of a public company, he produced finger pumps, lipstick cases, dispensing caps and various other products for the cosmetic, household, personal care and pharmaceutical industries. He is also a member and current chair of the board of trustees of the Bridgeport Hospital Foundation, the hospital’s fundraising arm. He also sits on other corporate and charitable boards, and enjoys inventing and patenting for the packaging industry.

“Bridgeport Hospital is proud to have two such distinguished individuals join its board,” said Anne Diamond, JD, the hospital’s president. “Their expertise will augment and enrich the hospital’s all-volunteer governing body and help us move forward as a healthcare organization.”
